Vato Gonzalez

Widely recognized as the originator of the ‘Dirty House’ movement, Vato Gonzalez has won thousands of fans over the last few years with his immensely energetic stage presence, rebellious attitude and by generally doing things his way.

Vato’s big break came in 2007, when he unleashed the first ‘Dirty House’ mixtape to the public. The fast-paced mixing proved to be an instant hit with the crowd and spread like wildfire all over the internet, resulting in more than 150.000 downloads.

Quickly after the launch of the first mixtape, Vato started with ‘Dirty House’ events and as the brand/movement grew, he sold out clubs with his ‘Dirty House’ concept, hosting ‘Dirty House’ arenas at massive events becoming one of the main festival attractions in Holland. As the poster boy for DIY artists, Vato also set up his own booking agency ‘010 Bookings’ and ‘Dirty House’ record label to become completely independent. As demand grew for ‘Dirty House’, he rolled out four additional mixtapes over the next 3 years, amassing well over a million downloads.

Vato’s international breakthrough came in 2011, when his single ‘Badman Riddim’ quickly developed into one of the biggest summer anthems of 2011 and entered the Official UK Chart at no. 7.

Following the success of ‘Badman Riddim’, Vato remixed some of the UK’s hottest acts, including Rizzle Kicks, Taio Cruz, Skepta and Sway. In 2012 he released the underground track ‘Digital Lies’ on Norman Cook’s Southern Fried Records, collaborated with Diplo on ‘Rasclat Riddim’, remixed Major Lazer’s new single ‘Jah No Partial’ and teamed up with Lethal Bizzle and Donae’o for ‘Not A Saint’. 2012 also saw the launch of the first ‘user-generated’ mixtape, ‘Army Of Bastards’ via his online community and he unleashed the sixth edition of the ‘Dirty House’ mixtape series.

He starts 2013 with a bang, as his single ‘Not A Saint’ enters the Official UK Chart as one of the highest new entries at no. 20; his second chart hit in the UK. Quickly after charting, he drops a massive club banger, ‘Cats Are Evil’, on Mad Decent. He teams up with Jaguar Skills to remix the new single ‘Earthquake’ by DJ Fresh & Diplo and also takes on Chuckie’s forthcoming single ‘Skydive’. His club smash ‘Sushi Riddim’ gets support from David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Bingo Players, Hardwell, Diplo, W&W, Pete Tong & Martin Solveig, and enters the Beatport Top 10 soon after. With club bangers scheduled for release on labels like Dim Mak and DOORN/Spinnin’ Records and a massive new single to drop early 2014, there’s no stopping this Dirty House bastard. Vato plays over 300 DJ shows per year around the globe.
